Homemade Muscle Balm

There are many creams and balms on the market for the relief of aching muscles, unfortunately a lot of these are petroleum based, contain lab made chemicals, scents, pharmaceuticals and preservatives, all of which are not good for humans and when applied regularly. This homemade muscle balm contains no harsh chemicals, only natural ingredients and is very effective in treating aching muscles. I have used this balm many times and it not only eases the symptoms, it acts on the muscles and cures the ailment in many cases.

Ingredients

Organic Beeswax (cosmetic or food grade)
Organic Coconut Oil
Cold Pressed Virgin Olive Oil
Fine Ground Black Pepper
Ground Ginger
Cayenne Pepper
Organic Rosemary Essential Oil
Muslin Cloth Funnel to strain the mixture

Gently melt 15g of beeswax in a double boiler add 30g of organic coconut oil and 30g of cold pressed virgin olive oil a little at a time and stir together until all has melted into a liquid. Add to the mixture 2 teaspoons of fine ground black pepper, 2 teaspoons of fine ground ginger, 2 teaspoons of cayenne pepper, the cayenne pepper contains capsaicin which gives this balm it’s heat and can help to relieve muscle pain. Stir well and remove from the heat.

Strain the liquid into a clean glass bowl or jug through a muslin cloth or paper towel, you can use a coffee filter paper, however these are a little fine and tend get blocked quickly and the wax can start to set. Once strained place the bowl back onto the pan of water to remelt the mixture if it has started to solidify.

Remove from the heat, add 20 drops of organic Rosemary essential oil and stir, Rosemary essential oil is great for relieving sore achy muscles. Pour the liquid into a glass jar for storage and allow to set.

Once set, the balm should have a red/orange colour, apply a little to achy muscles, bad back or neck pain. It really does relieve the pain as soon as you apply it and from my experience it doesn’t just treat the symptom, due to the Rosemary oil in this balm, it works as a remedy and I have known this balm to heal my back and neck pain within a day or two.
